PLA is a polyester commonly produced from renewable plant-derived feedstocks. Its stiffness and clarity make suitable grades useful for rigid packaging and other products. The resin grade, crystallinity and formulation determine heat resistance and processing behaviour.
Thermoformed trays and cups; compatible moulded articles, fibres and films; 3D-printing filament; blends with other compatible compostable polymers.
Dry and process the selected grade according to its supplier guidance. Compostability depends on the finished formulation, thickness and specified composting conditions; PLA should not be assumed to compost in every home or outdoor environment.
